COVID-19 Vaccinations
We understand that everyone is anxious to get their COVID-19 vaccination but at present there is a very limited supply of the vaccine coming to general practice, despite media reports to the contrary.
As soon as we receive a delivery we are ensuring those patients that are identified by the government guidelines are receiving the vaccine as soon as possible.
We would ask that you do NOT call the practice to enquire about the vaccine, due to the pandemic we are already experiencing staff shortages and an increased demand. Each extra unnecessary call puts an extra burden on this already stretched resource and could ultimately delay someone receiving medical treatment that they require.
The vaccine we are currently using is the AstraZeneca vaccine that can be stored in a pharmacy fridge. The vaccines comes in a vial of ten, we would therefore ask that if given an appointment you attend at the allotted time (not early or late). As we will be operating a drive through vaccine clinic this ensures no bottle necks and no wastage of vaccine. Please ask someone to drive you so you do not have to wait 15 minutes.
All patients will be called in the following order:
All those 80 years of age and over
All those 75 years of age and over
All those 70 years of age and over
Clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
All those 65 years of age and over
All individuals age 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions as per JCVI advice
All those 60 years of age and over
All those 55 years of age and over
All those 50 years of age and over
This whole process is more likely to take months rather than weeks and is only limited by the supply of the vaccines. We would thank you for your patience at this time.
