Self-Care

Self-Care encourages you the patient to manage your own minor, self-limiting illness.  These type of illnesses do not always require an appointment with the GP and you may be taking up an appointment which someone with a more serious illness really does need.

We would encourage you to have a look at the attached fact sheets below which explain how your illness may develop, how you should manage it and how long it should last.

Low Back Pain

Fever in Children

Cough in Adults

Sprains and Strains

Sore Throat

The Common Cold

Did you know ... that you can also get medication directly from your local pharmacy (without a prescription) for minor ailments such as diarrhoea, athlete's foot, headlice, cold sores, ear wax, mouth ulcers, threadworms, groin area infection and vaginal thrush.
